Haddenham United held their end of season Awards Evening on Saturday 9th May 2009, marking the end of the 2008/2009 season.
Held at Haddenham Community Centre, the event took the form of a disco and buffet for the second year running, and a successful evening saw players, club officials and supporters bring the season to a close.
The award presentations are always the highlight of the evening, and this year was no exception, with many players and club officials recognised for their achievements, attitudes and ability.
First up were the top goalscorers, with Andrew Lambie winning the Reserve Team award with 10 goals, and Jake Rea picking up the First Team award with 8.
The Reserve Team player awards saw youngster Jon Nunn voted by his fellow players as Player's Player of the Year, and James Essex handed the Manager's Player of the Year for his playing position versitility and his help with the guideance of the Reserve Team's young players.
The First Team awards saw Jake Rea add to his top goalscorer award with the Player's Player of the Year, and captain James Hawes picking up the Manager's Player of the Year award for his attitude and reliability.
The Young Player of the Year awards, sponsored by Haddenham Youth Football Club and presented by Chairman Tim Finch and former Chairman Paul Thres, saw Jon Nunn pick up his second award of the evening as the Reserve Team Young Player of the Year, and Matt Fisher was awarded the First Team Young Player of the Year for his impressive performances throughout the season as goalkeeper, defender and midfielder!
Clubman of the Year was presented by Vice-Chairman, Mark Witney, who took over what is normally the duty of the Chairman, due to Chairman, John Carnell, having been voted Clubman of the Year by his committee members. Not only a Chairman, John also marks out the pitch every week, making him a worthy winner of the award.
The Achievement Award was received by an emotional Alan Lewis, who after several years of playing for the club, the current Reserve Team Manager, and as a loyal fundraising and supporter of the club as a committee member, was acknowledged for his services.
The ladies of Haddenham Supporters Club were thanked and rewarded once again for all their work in supporting the club both financially and on match days, helping to make Haddenham United the most hospitable club in the league.
After a game of Play Your Cards Right, won by Paul Thres, who then gave the prize money back to the club, the night was danced away to the sounds of the disco, with a couple of well earned months off now for all at the club, ready to return back fresh for next season.
